President Hears Young Boy’s Cry

Waqas, a nine-year-old boy, on a school trip to the West Bank’s only municipal zoo in Qalqiliya, lost his arm after being attacked by a bear in a tragic accident. Curious to see inside the bear’s cage, Waqas  had climbed inside only to be immediately set upon by the bear. A Wattan Citizen Journalist was the first to interview the boy’s family at the nearby hospital. Waqas’ father told Wattan that he hoped his “cry should reach the president.” Following our report, the President directed the Ministry of Health to ensure free treatment for the boy and the supply of an artificial arm.
